Technical Architect · Google Cloud
Hugh O'Carroll-Macri
Post-Sale Technical Architect · Technical Account Manager, Google Cloud EMEA
Post-sale technical architect and former GCP Cloud Technical Resident with 4 years of enterprise cloud experience at Google Cloud, owning the technical relationship for a portfolio of global enterprise accounts across regulated industries. Currently the lead technical advisor on an enterprise Gemini Enterprise deployment automating high-volume contact center interactions. Combines hands-on GenAI application development — Python, LLM pipelines, agent design, evaluation frameworks — with the infrastructure, identity, and network architecture depth required to move prototypes into enterprise-grade production. Moves between C-suite roadmap conversations and hands-on prototyping in the same day, motivated by teaching, codifying best practice, and unblocking developers on ambiguous problems in real time.
Experience
The full partnership motion — from technical discovery and architectural design through partner enablement, external workshops, and joint customer deployments.
Technical Account Manager
Google Cloud EMEA · Madrid 2023 – Present- Enterprise GenAI deployment: lead post-sale technical advisor on a live Gemini Enterprise for Customer Engagement deployment, integrating the customer's CCaaS contact center stack into the platform to automate high-volume, low-complexity interactions — from use case identification and prioritisation through to production rollout.
- Post-sale technical ownership: primary post-sale technical partner for 5 global enterprise accounts spanning regulated industries (Financial Services, Petroleum, Digital Native, and E-commerce), unblocking production workloads and optimising system performance.
- Developer enablement & AI workshops: designed and delivered a Gemini Enterprise workshop to 30+ customer attendees, guiding developers and architects through zero-to-one setup of custom AI agents, prompt engineering, and evaluation frameworks.
- Enterprise identity & governance: managed complex authentication and compliance conversations with customer security teams; configured Google Workspace integrations with external OAuth providers via SAML and OIDC to secure enterprise cloud access.
- C-suite advisory & security reviews: facilitated technical architecture and security discussions with C-suite executives, translating complex distributed systems and compliance requirements into clear business trade-offs.
- Codifying technical practice: developed a comprehensive security assessment workshop and mentored global colleagues to deliver it independently — a repeatable enablement model that scaled across the wider TAM organisation.
- Roadmap influence: collaborated with product and engineering teams to translate customer and partner field requirements into prioritised feature requests, aligning platform development with real-world enterprise adoption blockers.
- Live incident management: cross-functional owner coordinating Engineering, SRE, and Support during critical escalations.
CCaaS Product Manager (20% project)
Google Cloud EMEA · Madrid 2024 – 2026- Embedded with the CCaaS (Contact Centre as a Service) product team — the platform layer underpinning enterprise customer service automation — capturing and contextualising partner and customer technical requirements and translating developer feedback into actionable roadmaps.
- Worked across product, engineering, and GTM to align partner-sourced requirements with the platform roadmap, prioritising the features most likely to drive partner-led adoption at scale.
Cloud Technical Resident
Google Cloud · Dublin 2022 – 2023- Completed 3 months of intensive cloud architecture training, followed by hands-on engineering rotations in UK Customer Engineering (Digital Natives) and TAM Madrid.
- Technical documentation: authored a customer-facing adoption guide for GKE Usage Metering and presented it directly to customer engineering teams to drive GKE cluster and cost optimisation.
- Serverless enablement: created enterprise-facing architectural documentation and live demos for serverless adoption, facilitating self-service onboarding for partners and customers.
- Quarterly insights: delivered data-driven operational reviews (QBRs) for senior stakeholders at Telefónica Germany, identifying performance optimisations and unblocking platform adoption.
Centre of Excellence Intern
SAP Ireland Jan – Aug 2021- Shadowed COE consultants to evaluate and troubleshoot customer enterprise architectures, developing early expertise in translating complex technical concepts for non-technical business audiences.
- Presented on multiple technical topics to SAP Ireland management, demonstrating strong technical communication skills.
AI engineering projects
Full-stack AI applications, built solo — frontend, backend, prompt pipeline, and cloud deployment.
Agentic Portfolio Analysis Tool
Solo-designing an applied-AI platform — portfolio intelligence over a live brokerage account — using agentic coding tooling as the primary engineering workflow, with a staged LLM pipeline on GCP Vertex AI and a strict "code calculates, model narrates" boundary so financial figures are never model-generated.
Responsible deployment built in from day one: a compliance guardrail screening every LLM output for regulated-advice framing, Google OIDC auth with a least-privilege role hierarchy, and Cloud KMS credential encryption — hardened via a formal 26-finding pre-deployment security review.
Owned the full infrastructure as code: Terraform-provisioned Cloud Run, private Cloud SQL, and keyless CI/CD via Workload Identity Federation, with every architectural decision captured in a versioned ADR log.
AI-Powered Meeting Intelligence Platform
Architected and built a full-stack, end-to-end meeting automation tool on Google's Antigravity platform using Gemini APIs, with GitHub + Cloud Build CI/CD integration.
Engineered a continuous-monitoring LLM extraction and summarisation layer that reliably parses unstructured notes into structured action items, with OAuth-secured pipelines pushing updates directly to Google Sheets and Google Tasks.
Navigated Google's internal IAM and data-governance compliance frameworks to take the tool from local prototype to production-approved internal deployment.
TAM Customer Health Intelligence Platform
Full-stack Python application consolidating customer health signals, GKE architectures, and support escalations into an active dashboard.
An LLM recommendation engine cross-references each customer's deployment architecture with real-time product updates to deliver automated, contextual technical guidance.
Iterated on active user feedback loops — treating internal colleagues as customers to drive adoption.
